The goal of the Office of Career Services is the same as NYIT's faculty: student success. Think of the path our students take to their professional career as a camping trip. Faculty and staff do an outstanding job of "filling the students' backpacks" with knowledge and practical skills to reach their destination. The Office of Career Services provides the maps and compasses, and we serve as guides for students conducting their career exploration.

How can we help you and the services we offer:

  • We help your students find the “right fit.” We  help students determine the right career for their interests, career goals, skills, values, and personality, from their first class to after graduation. We have great resources for job outlooks, salary, and employment trend information, and we know employers who want to know you
  • We work directly with employers, who like to work with faculty members who can identify top students. We can  facilitate that connection. And, if you have contacts within organizations or companies you think we should be engaged with, please let us know.
  • Our career fairs attract many recruiters at a time. Our fairs allow your students to meet representatives from the companies in their prospective industries and establish a network of contacts. We help your students research employers beforehand and prepare them to effectively engage with recruiters who attend.
  • We assist in identifying quality internships. Internships are an important part of your students' overall educational experience. Through our employer network, we  help your students identify internship opportunities that will  serve them in academic and professional pursuits.
  • We help students master the job interview. There is no better way to prepare for a interview than by experiencing one. The Office of Career Services staff and recruiter volunteers are here to conduct mock interviews with students and then provide a constructive critique and tips on effective interview strategies.
  • Career Services has its own online job bank listing jobs and internships.
  • Think you have to postpone or cancel a class? Don’t!  Just call our office to find a Career Services member who can “pinch hit” for you by holding a career services workshop! W are available to conduct a wide variety of workshops on topics such as: What can I do with a major in…?; Harnessing the Internet for career development; internships; and successful resume, cover letter, and interview prep
